The re-alignment and widening of 4.5km of rural highway and construction of two new bridges in Amelup (about 100km north of Albany) was awarded to Densford Civil as part of the $55.25 million Western Australia Regional Road Safety Package. Challenging environmental conditions began with summer fires and heavy dust storms before progressing to the lingering threat of winter rain. Adhering to the tight program was essential to mitigate the effects of flooding and minimise the disruption to freight haulage. Thanks to excellent project management (and a bit of luck with the weather) the roads and bridges were successfully opened prior to winter.
